Sad news over the weekend with the announcement of the passing of Rugby Union legend Doddie Weir. The word legend is used regularly in the sporting world but Doddie Weir and the word legend fit together perfectly.
Doddie was our guest speaker at our Sportsmans Dinner in 2014 and he was one of the best speakers we have had at our event. Doddie took the time to contact us prior to the dinner to get back ground info on the club - he stayed over in Carnforth the night of the dinner and even served behind the bar in the Carny Inn. He took the time to speak to everyone at the dinner and was an absolute top bloke. The next morning he also made a visit to my house to acknowledge our successful event and for a game of darts with Kieron.
Doddie - may you rest in peace. We at Carnforth Rugby Club salute you.
