Slade Green Knights v Catford FC

Back with a bang!
We returned to league action this week to take on Slade Green Knights. The last time the Fatcatz came up against Slade Green Knights they were defeated 3-1 in a lacklustre performance. This time round we were hoping to extend our 3 game unbeaten run.
Fortunately manager Kevin Palma had a full team of player to choose for the squad with several injured players returning to full fitness during lockdown.
Catford didn't start well and the rust showed, not long into the game they were the masters of their our own downfall conceding after an individual error in the 6 yard box. Conceding the early goal sparked some life into he players as they started to move the ball with the smoothness that they had shown in their last few games. Roughly 10 minutes later Daniel Lopes picked up the ball near the half way and proceeded to glide past several players before finishing neatly into the bottom corner to level the scoreline. It wasn't long until the young Fatcatz took the lead through Daniel Lopes who was slipped through on goal and then finished after taking the ball round the keeper.
Unfortunately we weren't able to take the lead into the 2nd half as again through individual errors we conceded another goal from a corner kick.
We started the second half brightly having to compete tactically and physically to thwart Slade Greens direct approach. The game was very even with both teams struggling to create any real opportunities. That was until Catford broke quickly after a Slade Green mistake in midfield, Taiwo Aliu found the ball at his feet 25 yards during a 2 v 1 break and opted to bend the ball into the top left hand corner with his weaker foot to put the Catford back in the lead.
With legs tiring the Catford back line had to stay alert to deal with the constant threat during long balls from Slade Green Knights. To cap of a wonderful performance Daniel Lopes completed his hat trick after some brilliant intricate play on the edge of the box with Taiwo who poked the ball through to Daniel who managed to finish past the on rushing keeper.
Catford were able to see out the rest of the game to extend their winning run to 4 games, scoring 16 goals in the process.
