Cemaes Bay got back to winning ways in emphatic style yesterday with a resounding win over Clwyd League outfit West Shore, where both teams started well before the visitors collapsed.
Cemaes were forced to start with a few key players missing in the shape of Oli Roberts who was running late, as well as Tim Williams, Gerallt Jones, and Clauvice Tangang, so Dai and Steve were forced into a team reshuffle with Mason again being deployed in centre midfield, another start for Dylan Evans out wide and a suprise inclusion of forward Shaun Daniels at left back.
Both sides started well but it was the visitors who took the lead after 6 minutes when Tris Lee had an effort at one end, and within seconds the ball was in our net when the West Shore team broke forward and sent their captain through on goal, and with Sion Hughes charging down on him he lifted the ball over him and into the back of the net.
Bay got back level instantly, when straight from the restart, when the impressive Rhodri Williams broke down the right hand side, and played a sweet ball through for Tom Wood who slotted in brilliantly at the near post.
The Reds continued to press and dominate, and continued to test the visiting defence and keeper but to no avail.
They did get the breakthrough however in the 18th minute, when Aaron Jones shrugged off his marker before advancing along the byline, rounding the keeper and tapping home with ease, and just a minute later Jones made it two for himself and three for the team when Tom Wood unselfishly crossed to the back post for Aaron to head home when he could have easily score himself.
Cemaes passed the ball around with ease, with no real threat from the visitors.
But out of nowhere, the ball fell to a West Shore midfielder who rifled home an unstoppable effort from twenty yards giving the Whites hope ofgetting back into the game, but a further two goals in the last five of the half all but ended the game, firstly a flowing passing move involving Andy Powell, Tom Wood and Rhodri Williams resulted in the Williams finishing well, Dylan Evans was forced off just before the break with a slight twinge in his back, being replaced by Oli Roberts, and it was Olis first pass that gave Mason his first real sight of goal, but his effort was well held.
And with almost the last play of the game a cross from Mason picked out Wood at the back post to glance header past the keeper
HT 5-2
The Bay started the second period as they ended the first, and were nearly further infront instantly when a powerful run down the left from Mason ended with his cross to the unmarked Wood being well intersepted by the keeper, on 55 minutes Gaz Cooke was given his debut by Dei following his switch from Amlwch Town when he replaced Rhodri Williams.
Tom Wood showed individual brilliance just before the hour mark when he beat five players, burst into the box to beat another defender but could only hit the side netting.
Matty O'Hara was next to make his debut, when he came on for Cemaes' new No 9 Aaron Jones.
It took till the 65th minute for Cemaes to eventually find the net again when a deep crossfield ball from Tris Lee picked out Steven Mason in the box to rise highest and steer a bullet header into the net, the goal triggered a fluury of changes from the home side with youngsters Ifan Hughes, Liam Holland and David Glyn coming on for Shaun Daniels, Tom Wood and Oliver Roberts.
In the last ten minutes West Shore folded in dramatic fashion, leaking in 5 goals and resorting to Rugby style challenges to try thwart the Bay attacks. Matty O'Hara got the first of the five goals, when good pressure from Liam Holland forced the keeper into an awful pass to the feet of O'Hara who tapped into the empty net, and just a couple of minutes later he doubled his tally when he controlled Mason's pass well and finished well in the bottom corner, and just a minute later he had the chance of a dream debut hattrick when he beat both his markers, but with just the keeper to beat he hit a tame effort straight at the grateful keeper.
Another debut goal was next to make the score 9-2 and it was Gaz Cooke with undoubtably the goal of the game when the ball fell to him from all of 35yards and he took a touch and let rip with a stunning strike which flew into the top corner, Liam Holland netted a minute later when he was picked out in the box by Mat O'Hara to head in, bring a huge roar of delight from the stands.
Danny Bull completed the scorin in the 89th minute when he prodded home a loose ball in the box to round off a comfortable afternoon for the Reds, which resembled a training game at times.
Next up for The Bay will be a Wylfa IX on thursday night followed by the season opener away to Amlwch Town Reserves
