Outplayed despite Pearce pyrotechnics.

Fifties from Jim Ryall and Pearce Mercer were not enough for the First XI against Cattistock on Saturday. Batting first Cerne overcame a hostile opening spell from the visitors reaching 50-1 in 15 overs. Ryall accelerated the run rate as his innings progressed, but Cerne experienced a slump after his dismissal which was only rectified when Pearce came in at number 7. His quick-fire knock of 61 including 11 fours and 2 sixes allowed the home side to reach a decent if under par 227-8.
Cattistock made good progress in reply, although Cerne were unlucky not to pick up the wickets of both openers early on. The game remained in the balance at 111-3, but not for long. Former Cerne player Steve Tucker took the game away scoring 90 not out off just 37 balls as Cattistock won at a canter.
