Smith Seymour brace sees Town register a 100% September

The scoreline would suggest that Town had it all their own way, in terms of chances thats probably true but for large periods of the game the visitors dug in and matched the home sides industry and did create a couple of chances. A sweeping move after 6 mins though brought about the games opener when a fantastic ball whipped into the box by Thomas was despatched with a glorious header by the skipper Lugsden. Those watching might have feared the worst for the boys from Dove but for the next 36 minutes Town decided to go through all the genres of the beautiful game including the hopeful punt. The Dove back four stood strong and only half chances were created with a notable miss by Lugsden, although in fairness the half volley required is not an easy skill, however this did allow Dove to settle and grab a toehold and look to hit the Town on the break.
Although they didn't manage a glut of chances 1 in particular from a very clever free kick had Town completely baffled. Its not often you see the kind of imagination required to pull of such a move and only a poor strike from the centre of the goal denied them a very good goal. On 42 mins Smith Seymour burst through and scored the home sides second and this appeared to settle the home side who went on to create a couple of more chances before half time.
Squad rotation saw Jones continue his rehabilitation with his introduction at left back, like a new signing following his extended lay off following collar bone surgery, its great to see this gifted footballer back in action for the Foresters and he put in another solid 45, Oldfield was moved forward and suddenly Town appeared more balanced and began to fathom more opportunities, Smith Seymour with a clever through ball despatched by Coates on the hour, 3-0 game over. Coates having the kind of impact everybody knew was in his tank, with arguably his best performance to date in a first team shirt and his constant energy saw him not only retain possesion as the lone striker but saw him tackling back and halting any attacks before they got going. Smith Seymour bagged his second on 70 with a crisp volleyed finish after great work by Brooks down the right was followed by great cross to the back stick. Another 3 points and 4 out 4 for September thats sets Town up for a wicked months of fixtures in October.
