Chasetown Football Club wishes to extend its heartfelt gratitude to players who are departing this season.

Their contributions to the club have been invaluable, and they will be greatly missed. Below are the details of the departing players and heartfelt comments from our First Team Manager, Mark Swann.

James Wren - James Wren, affectionately known as Wrenny, stepped in as a personal favor for Swanny at the end of the 2022/2023 season when Pondy was injured. Wrenny, a fantastic goalkeeper, came out of retirement to help the team. His impact was immediate, both on and off the field. "Working with Wrenny for a full season was an absolute pleasure," said our manager. "Not only was he a fantastic goalkeeper, but an unbelievable and humble guy too. We respect his decision to play closer to home in Sutton Coldfield due to work and family commitments. Though we're gutted to see him go, we're thrilled he found his love for the game again. Wrenny leaves as a great friend and a great lad. We wish him and his family all the best."

Alex Melbourne - Long-serving player Alex Melbourne, known as Melbs or Mr. Angry, is also departing. "Managers always say they have no favourites, but of course, we do, and Melbs was certainly one of mine," remarked Swanny. "He was consistent in everything he did, setting a great example for others. Melbs made it clear that he wanted more game time, and we fully support his decision. He leaves as a top player and a top lad. We wish him, his two young lads, and his wife all the best."

Callum Mendez-Jones - We are also disappointed to see Callum Mendez-Jones hang up his boots. Callum returned to football this season after setting up a business three years ago. "When injuries hit and people were tired, Call stepped in and delivered outstanding performances," said our manager. "His work commitments have taken priority again, and we wish Call and his young family all the best."

Carter Lycett - Carter Lycett has been offered a lucrative deal from a club in the Midland section of step 4. "Although it was a short stay, we wish him all the best in the next part of his development. Good luck, Carts!"

Ryan Shaw - Due to a change in his work commitments, Ryan Shaw has decided to find a team closer to home in the Midlands division. "Shawry enjoyed a fantastic season with us in his second spell at the club. He was a popular member of the dressing room and will be missed. All the best, Shawry!"

Jayden Campbell - Jayden Campbell has also decided to leave the club. "Jayden is one of the most naturally talented players I've seen," says Swanny. "Despite a frustrating season due to injuries, he felt a fresh start was needed. We are saddened to lose a player I took under my wing, but we respect his decision to accept a deal at a club in the Midland section of step 4. Good luck, Jayden!"

Chasetown FC is sincerely grateful for the dedication and efforts of these players. We wish them all the best in their future endeavors and hope they continue to find success both on and off the pitch.
