Chelmsford City travel to Evesham on Saturday 23rd Feburary to take on Gloucester City in the National League South (3pm KO)

Chelmsford City take on the Tigers as they aim to keep up the pace with League leaders, Torquay United, in the race for promotion.

City are currently in fine form, winning six out of their last seven League games, which has given their hopes of promotion a big boost. A win for the Clarets this weekend, and with results going their way, could see them reduce the gap at the top to just a single point.

In the reverse fixture at the Melbourne Community Stadium earlier on this season, Chelmsford City ran out 2-0 winners thanks to goals from Tom Wraight and Amos Nasha.

The Clarets were without a recognised striker due to injuries and suspensions on the day, but were able to get a crucial result, bouncing back from the disappointing defeat to Oxford City in the FA Trophy the week before.

Gloucester City currently play their home games at Jubilee Stadium in a ground share with Evesham United. They sit in 19th place in the National League South, just 3 points ahead of 20th place Hungerford Town, who occupy one out of the three relegation spots. They are, however, unbeaten in their last 5 League games, winning 3 and drawing 2.

The Tigers boast a squad of young talent, courtesy of their Academy. They are, however, on their fourth managerial reign of the season since Marc Richards departed at the end of the 2017/18 campaign and are currently managed by Mike Cook, who also managed Cinderford Town between 2004-06.

Coaches Tom Webb and Mike Green have twice stepped in to take on Caretaker roles this season, with Chris Todd taking over between October 2018 to January 2019, but was relieved from his duties after a 15-game winless run.

A win for the hosts this weekend could see them expand the gap between themselves and the bottom three by 6 points in their fight to avoid relegation.

The Clarets will be without left-back, Joe Anderson (knee) as he continues his recovery from an injury sustained earlier this month.

Central midfielder, Chez Isaac (hip) and central defender, Adrian Cascaval (ribs), are both doubts, with the latter coming off injured last weekend vs East Thurrock United.

"[Gloucester] are a team fighting for their lives down at the bottom of the league" he said. "They've got a new manager in and they've put some very good results together, so that's always a danger.

"Saturday is about us having the right mindset getting off the coach, prepping right in the warm up and giving it our best for 90 minutes.

"It's not a game I'll take lightly."
