Can you help with coaching next season?

Cheltenham Civil Service RFC - HEAD COACH FOR THE 2018/19 SEASON

The position of Head Coach has come about through the partial retirement of our existing head coach. This position is available for the start of the 2018/19 season (July 2018) and it is essential to future success of the club. The current coach has indicated that he can’t offer the same level of commitment required going forward but would be keen, subject to the new coach being in agreement, to offer service as an assistant

CCSRFC was founded in 1947 as a social grassroots club linked to a big civil service department locally. Over the last 10 seasons the club has had mixed fortunes, having been relegated from Glos 1 down to Glos 3 in a short period, then promoted with league cup and Cheltenham Combination Cup success. The teams have overall, demonstrated that despite hard times to be a club you can’t ever write off and we don’t give up.

We have excellent facilities, renowned as having the best pitches in Gloucestershire, a keen player base and lots of good quality, modern training apparatus.

The coach is required to attend Tuesday evenings for training and match days for the 1st team. Thursday training sessions aren’t currently coach led, but we are open to discussion on this front, but appreciate that it is a huge commitment.

The ideal candidate will have played before at a reasonable level, holding the level 2 RFU or equivalent coaching qualification and be a positive influence. Leadership and development of the players in both the 1s and 2s that train will be fundamental to the role.

The club has very serious ambitions to bounce straight back out of Gloucester Division 3 or if we survive the current relegation battle to compete at the top of the league. We require support to achieve this. With this in mind we would look to support professional development through RFU Coaching qualifications and other related courses, alongside any new kit requirements.

We have recently set a juniors section with a view to growing that and also to potentially aid with recruitment.
