Cobras Perform Against Best of Thailand

The individual has always had to struggle to keep from being overwhelmed by the tribe.
- Rudyard Kipling

It was a young, developmental Cobras squad that traveled South to the nations capital to compete in a strong RBSC Rugby 10s tournament. Its an Absolutely fantastic tournament held at the prestigious and historic Royal Bangkok Sports Club.

The first match was Royal Thailand Police and we knew we were in for a tough match. The Cobras held their own for much of the game having taken the lead early on, to shock one of the pre tournament favorites. The police began to gain some control as the match progressed and took the lead with a converted try to lead 7-5. As the Cobras pressed for the winner, falure to secure the ball on attack allowed the police to break away and score another converted try in which was the last play of the game. Final 14 - 5 Royal Thai Police with the win. The second match against hosts RBSC. A tough back and forth battle which saw the Cobras hold the lead for much of the game before a tiring defence was breached towards the end as the game finished finished with a draw 7-7.
Up next in the third game was old friends the Bangkok Bangers. In a scrappy, hard fought match, lads played withheart & put in the hard yards but the Bangers starved the Cobras of ball. With the Cobras always on the back foot the Bangers went on to win 26-0. Our reward for finishing 3rd in our group was a Bowl final appearance where we would play the Royal Thai Army. This was a great match led by our young Thai lads. With Josh Lim leading the charge against his Army mates, the Cobras were the better team in the early stages aand took an early lead. The RTA came back strong in the 2nd half to even things up. It was 5 - 5 with time running out and extra time looming. With both sides having given their all and defences tiring, the Army managed to get across the line and the whistle blew for full time. Final 10 - 5 Royal Thai Army.

The Tournament winners were the Bangkok Bangers Rugby Club , who beat the All for One(RTAF) team in the final. Congratulations to both teams for an epic final.

It was a great tour and a big shout out to our back of the tournament, Tama Williamson, who's consistent line breaks, great tackles and just solid all round performances during the day earned him the accolade. The forward of the tournament was Kong Phakapol who put in an immense shift against some big forwards. It is awesome to watch these lads grow as a players and as a young men. Special thanks to Saxon and Mark for your support and to Rex and Chris from Bangkok Southerners Rugby. Always great to catch up with our mates from all the clubs throughout Thailand and to see the Rugby North represented in Royal Thai Air Force, Royal Thai Police, Royal Thai Army ranks. Great times, great lads!!!!!
