Chichester City Youth U10 *Season Review 2023/24*

Ben Blanshard22 Mar - 07:53

This group of year 5 boys have enjoyed another great season.

Playing up a year against Year 6 teams, and transitioning to 9v9 football, the group took some time to adapt. Seeded alongside the best sides in the older age group, games were challenging, close and competitive and in the first 2 months, we came out 2nd best result wise more often than not.
Undeterred by this and driven in nature, progress during and since has been amazing. The team have been on an unbeaten run in league games since November and we have gone on to beat some of those same sides who beat us early season. An example of this, was our most recent match, a real season highlight. We beat the inform team in the age group and a side we have only won once against previously. It was an awesome effort. Real growth and development can be seen amongst all individuals and the collective as a whole. The team have had to work hard for this with players committing to twice a week training and to the value of teamwork. We also have a lot of fun along the way and are making friendships for life!

*Other Great Moments*
- The boys played in a 10 week futsal programme, winning a round robin and a Samba tournament.
- We reached the final of the Horsham Elite Tournament at Christmas for the 3rd consecutive event. Sadly we couldn’t make it 3 wins from 3 in the final.
- We were invited to play Portsmouth academy in November. A great experience.
- The Christmas social, Dads v lads game going down to penalties and the squad tunnelling day out a top team event.

*The Coaching and Facilities*
The team benefit from qualified UEFA football, futsal and goalkeeping coaching. Qualified running and strength and conditioning coaches and a number of students who are studying Sports Performance and Coaching. We also now enjoy playing on the main clubs new 3G pitch. We train twice a week and hold open sessions on a Saturday. Big thanks to all the coaches and youth club for what they do for us.

*Sponsors*
Big thanks to our sponsors PSM and Dukes Electrical for the kit sponsorship, winter coats and tracksuits.
