For those of a certain age they may remember Castle Combe Dairies of which Lyn was one of the Directors, living in Kingston St Michael before moving to Chippenham.

Lyn as he was known by those who knew him, was involved with the club when it was at its spiritual home Birch Grove. Lyn was a visionary and had realised the importance in the development of younger players if the club was to survive. In the 1970’s along with Mike Morgan and others formed what was to be the first junior rugby section in the club.
The group started as the U10’s with players ranging in age from 6 upwards and at the beginning only had 8 to 10 children.

The group of players grew and when they were the U13’s players such as Steve Regan, Johnathan and Jeremy Garraway had started to play and went on to play with distinction at senior level. Lyn’s son Christopher had continued on to play hooker up to U16’s.

Lyn had continued to keep in contact with the club and was one of the venerable older members who would come up and watch whichever Chippenham team was playing at home on a Saturday. This group also for a number of years would continue to come throughout the closed season on a Saturday, with Lyn arriving at speed on his mobility scooter.

Lyn will be sadly missed by all who knew him.

Lyn`s funeral is on Friday 14th October at West Wilts Crematorium Semington at 1045hrs. There are to be family flowers only. and the "Wake " is being held at Chippenham Rugby Club.

You may be interested to know that Lyn is being cremated wearing his Welsh rugby jersey. Lyn was always a loyal Welsh supporter but never a Welshman born & bred.
