It is hard to believe that Cill Dara actually had more procession in this game than their hosts Gorey but the score-line reflected the ruthlessness of the Gorey attack. Cill Dara opened the scoring after 12 minutes with a Rory Conway penalty and things looked promising when the Gorey No. 8 got a yellow card 7 minutes later, However they failed to capitalize on the numerical advantage and behind 2 minutes later when Gorey crossed the line for the first of their 7 tries. When Cill Dara failed to make touch from a defensive penalty 6 minutes later Gorey attached from the half way line and extended their lead to 11 points with a second converted try. Rory Conway narrowed the gap after 33 minutes with an other penalty but when Conor Smyth received a yellow card 3 minutes before the break for a high tackle Gorey scored from the subsequent penalty to lead 21 - 6 at half time.
The second half didn't get any better for the visitors and despite another penalty from Rory Conway after 7 minutes Gorey were clinical when they got into the Cill Dara half scoring tries in the 43rd, 58th and 67th minute. The game concluded when the Gorey winger intercepted a pass on their own goal line when Cill Dara looked likely to score and ran the length of the pitch to score the final try of the game.
