Another disappointing loss for Cill Dara against DLSP

DLSP took an early lead in this game when the Cill Dara forwards went off their feet at a ruck and presented the visitors No. 12 with a routine penalty kick in front of the posts after just 3 minutes. However just a barely a minute later the DLSP forwards infringed and Bryn Moore levelled the game with his first penalty of the game. DLSP were the dominant team in the first half partly due to wind and also a lack of discipline from the home side who conceded 6 penalties in the first 25 minutes. 10 minutes into the game saw DLSP retake the lead with a try in the corne,r following some sustained pressure five meters out. An excellent conversion from the side-line stretched the lead to 7. Five minutes later a second penalty from fullback Moore kept Cill Dara in the fight and coupled with a much improved kicking game from the home side no further scores came before the break. Half-time 6 - 10 to DLSP.
Cill Dara had the advantage of the wind in the second half and proceeded to dominate both procession and territory. They could have narrowed the gap after 9 minutes but Bryn Moore's penalty attempt drifted narrowly wide of the posts. Six minutes later Cill Dara did take a deserved lead when Rory Conway squeezed over from in close and Moore added the extra points. Cill Dara should have pushed on from their but again poor discipline cost them the services of captain Colin Moloney with 20 minutes to go when he received a yellow card from the referee who judged his playing the scrum half in the ruck as cynical. DLSP capitalized on the extra man and retook the lead with 13 minutes remaining with a well worked try. The conversion was missed leaving just two points in it. Five minutes later a scrum penalty for the home side gave them the chance to retake the lead and Bryn Moore duly obliged with a well struck penalty. The game was drifting to the end when the excellent Conor Smyth got a yellow for a high tackle and once again reduced Cill Dara to 14 men. On the stroke of full-time the referee awarded DLSP a penalty from a Cill Dara scrum on the 10 meter line and despite the pressure the DLSP No. 12 slotted home to send the visiting supporters home happy. Final score Cill Dara 16 DLSP 18.
