A frustrating evening for Town saw them narrowly defeated by high flying Hungerford at the Causeway. Both sides created early opportunities Andy Lewis having a shot saved and Michael Whittington neatly eluding his marker but narrowly clearing the bar. For Hungerford Mills went close and a neat move saw Gosling presented with a great chance which he fluffed.

On 17 minutes Hungerford were in front, Hooper neatly controlling a long ball out of defence to beat Ben John. Cinderford could have struck back almost immediately but Whittington failed to connect with Sommers cross. A poor challenge on Matt Barnes saw the influential winger limp off to be replaced by Craig Tait. Whittington’s free kick came within inches of an equaliser while Stow shot straight at Ben John then Wallace beat the Town offside trap but was guilty of a truly glaring miss. Wallace then became involved in an altercation with Danny Haines that saw both men sent off.

The second period saw Town enjoy plenty of possession but lacking the guile and invention to unlock a strong, resolute Hungerford defence. The visitors were happy to soak up considerable pressure then attempt to hit Cinderford on the break. Stow created space for himself but failed to trouble John in the home goal. Then as Hungerford pressed for a second goal Fila’s cross was headed back across goal by Blackford only for Stow once again to squander a marvellous opening. Dan Harrison replaced Peckham with ten minutes to go as Cinderford strove for an equaliser but Hungerford survived to claim a hard earned win.
