The Clanfield U18 squad were the complete under dogs when they took on Oxford City in the Oxfordshire Joe Roughton U'18 Youth Cup final on 30 April, but overcame the odds with every single player involved on the day putting in their best performance of the season.
It was a tight affair throughout with few chances, but the best ones fell to Clanfield. The only goal of the match came via a corner which Harvey Savin met with a bullet header into the City goal on about thirth-four minutes.
Far from hanging on for the win, Clanfield continued to play expansive football and should have got a second goal, when Zac Oliver turned his man superbly, only for his shot to be tipped onto the bar by the keeper, and when the ball came back across goal he failed to keep his shot down as it flew over the gaping net.
Harvey Savin had to clear a City free kick off the line in the 88th minute, managing to get the ball over the cross bar after the ball had managed to slip through to preserve Clanfield's lead.
It is reported that after their exertions and the well deserved win of this prestigious cup, all of the players went to bed early to dream about their famous victory.......well maybe
