Clarendon Juniors Introduce Two Men’s Teams for 20/21 Season

Since changing its name back in 2001, the club has become one of the largest youth football clubs in the Salisbury and south Wilts area. With 14 teams ranging from under 7's upto under 16 for the 2020/21 season involving over 160 players, the club has grown year on year.

The growth has been founded on an ethos of player development and providing as many footballing opportunities as possible. After becoming a Saints Foundation partner club in 2019 another vital piece of the jigsaw has now been added, with two men’s teams being introduced for the 2020/2021 season.

The Hampshire Premier League and the Salisbury and District League have both formally approved applications from Clarendon FC to join their leagues from next season and
Club Head Coach Andy Whitehead said “We are absolutely delighted to be launching two new teams. This is the culmination of two years of planning and thanks to the support of the club and Winterslow Parish Council, we have been able to make our dreams into reality.

Our plan all along was to offer both existing club members and other local footballers, the opportunity to progress into a high standard of men’s football.
We had found in recent years that many players that have spent years at the club, sometimes playing from aged six or seven right up until 18, then found that they had nowhere to go after their youth football career ended.
There are fewer football clubs locally than ever before and we wanted to support these players and also stem the tide of reducing numbers of local teams. We are therefore proud to be launching two new squads, one competing in the Salisbury and District Sunday League and a second competing in Hampshire Premiere League One. Both of these local leagues provide a real challenge, which we are very much looking forward to.

The current Coronavirus crisis has obviously added another hurdle that nobody could have anticipated. Fortunately the English FA has just published guidance which allows both the junior club and the men’s squads to restart training in small gorups. We are hopeful that as social distancing requirements are reduced, we can really get stuck in to our pre-season plans. We have number of pre-season friendlies pencilled in when safe to restart and I cannot wait to see the red and white of Clarendon on the pitch again."

Clarendon FC will play home games at Barry’s Fields Sports Ground in Winterslow and are looking for suitable sponsorship to support both teams.
