WEEKEND ROUND UP - 05 January 2025

WEEKEND ROUND UP - 05 January 2025

CJFC Official5 Jan - 17:15

Only three games went ahead with the weather putting paid to the majority of our games.

The UNDER 12’s WHITES took the lead after four minutes as they faced Reading City in the 4G at Sarum Academy when a perfectly delivered corner by Teddy Robinson was met by a powerful header from Tom Latter for his 250th goal for the club.

After half an hour Reading equalised, only for the whites to regain the lead, when Ollie Chapman’s outstanding cross field ball was met by Jonty Simpson, and his pace was unmatched as he broke free to place in to the far corner.

Charlie Green, Henry Busby-Grayer and Freddie Trollope must have came close to running a marathon, their efforts from box to box in midfield caused Reading some headaches.

Simpson and Chapman were causing lots of problems out wide, and were only stopped by being fouled. This resulted in the whites third goal, when another Robinson set piece saw a deep free kick met by Declan Owens at the back post to control and slot past the keeper.

Owens then added a fourth when he broke free, and his trickery proved too much for the defender as he made a foul, and Owens calmly sent the keeper the wrong way from the penalty spot to also bring up his 250th club goal.

As Reading kept on fighting for a way back in, centre back Warwick Mackett was there time and time again to stop any danger.

However, Reading were determined to do their best to get back in to the game, and almost did when they had to place in to an empty net, but Zach Andrews leg appeared from nowhere to miraculously clear off the line, and just moments later Adrian Wyczolkowski produced a double save that left everyone in shock when he somehow clawed away a certain goal, after making several very good stops from close range throughout.

Andrews a certain contender for player of match as he was fantastic in defence, and with Teddy Robinson, Warwick Mackett and later on Tom Latter holding firm, the whites came away with a fully deserved 4-3 victory to make it three consecutive league wins.

The UNDER 10’s REDS made the road trip via the countryside and the New Forest to Lymington.

Both teams had chances to break the first half deadlock but neither could find a way past some fine goalkeeping.

Lymington took the lead with a well placed shot but Toby Woodhouse-Smith finished a few minutes later with an equally fine finish.

Lymington continued to have the upper hand in the third quarter but the
Reds finished the better of the last quarter.

Nancy Carlisle and Henry Bowyer were unlucky not to score after close range shots but for the keeper and the post.

Player of the match went to Zac Durbin for a solid performance and the finest step over you’ll see.

The only other fixture to go ahead was the UNDER 8’s WHITES and UNDER 8’s REDS who also met on 4G.

Both sides were all ready and raring to go after the festive break especially as the first fixture back was a club derby fixture.

The Reds started off strongly with an amazing through ball into Oscar Watts to Elsie Tinne and she nicely slotted it away to open up the scoring.

Watts found the net with a great long range strike while Raff Rose made a great diving save to deny the Whites.

In the second quarter the whites played some great football and very quickly got themselves on the scoresheet thanks to Evan Wright who then doubled his tally.

Both teams combined to play some lovely football and it was played in a way which stands out the clubs ethos which was great to see.

Eddie Harris finished a fine solo run and even better celebration for the Reds before Jacob Elder added his name to the Whites scoresheet closely followed by Kai West and Alfie Wallace.

Albie Moignard and Ellis Hart made some good passes and tackles for the Whites while Arthur Knight, Harry Easley & Sam Kempton all worked hard across the defence and midfield for the Reds and it all started to pay off with another goal from Harris & a lovely goal from Nellie Robinson.

Tom Brown made some great saves and some great passes from the back to release Harris, Robinson and Luca Murphy with the Reds also hit the post a few times in what was a closely contested encounter right to the final whistle.

Player of the match for the Whites went to Evan Wright for a fantastic performance in goal and a couple of goals on pitch while Sam Kempton picked up the player of the match for the Reds for his hard work in goal and defence.
