The UNDER 18’s REDS played their penultimate ever match of youth football by visiting South Newton & Barford Hornets.
Despite goals from Cameron Hillier and Craig Lomotey they went down 7-2.
The UNDER 18’s WHITES hosted league leaders Laverstock and included under 16’s players Ethan Standen, Jack Pollard and Charlie Orchard all acquitted themselves well.
The visitors ran out comfortable winners with a 6-0 win.
The UNDER 15’s REDS ended their league season with a goalless draw away to Upper Clatford.
Clatford had the chance to open the scoring with a first half penalty but their spot kick found the crossbar.
The UNDER 15’s GREENS played host to Soccer Scholar Academy for their latest league fixture.
A frenetic start saw two very quick goals scored.
First for the Greens, a ball played into the box from Lexi Gray was not dealt with by the SSAs defence with the ball bobbling around, Sophie Lock was quickest to react and headed the ball in the back of net with just 2 minutes on the clock.
From the kick off SSA played the ball forward quickly. Their striker found themselves unmarked with time to pick their spot to put the ball past Izzy Bealing and it was 1-1 with just 3 minutes played.
The game settled down with the midfield and defences of both teams being on top.
Gray and Verity Rutherford controlled the centre of the pitch really well, pressing SSA, breaking up their attacks, and pushing the Greens forward.
Greens edged in front in the dying minutes of the half, a dangerous ball into SSAs box, from Gray wasn't dealt with. First Immy Latter poked a shot towards goal, which was saved but came back to her.
She knocked the ball to an unmarked Lock who scored her second of the match from close range.
Early in the second half, Greens were awarded a penalty for a blatant hand ball in the SSA area.
Immy Watson stepped up to smash the ball high into the net, sending their keeper the wrong way.
SSA pressed really well and applied a lot of pressure to the Greens defence, but Tegan Randall, Tula Busby-Grayer and Phoebe Arden held their own. When SSA did get through, they couldn't find a way past Bealing.
SSA were awarded a free kick on the edge of the area late on, but the shot didn't trouble the Greens goal.
Greens held out for a hard fought 3-1 win to continue their great late season form and moved them up to 2nd place in the league.
The UNDER 14’s REDS conceded a last minute penalty to deny them all three points away to Durrington Raptors.
An own goal and a strike from Riley Sanders had given them a 2-1 lead earned by playing some good football for the most part but the hosts converted from the spot to rescue themselves a point in a 2-2 draw.
The UNDER 14’s WHITES kicked off their Invitational Cup campaign with a narrow 2-1 win against Alderbury Allstars.
Alex Glover set up Tom Harwood with Thomas Woodhouse-Smith scoring from Jack Street’s assist.
Brian Mantey scored a hatrick for the UNDER 13’s REDS in a close game with Totton and Eling.
It was Totton that edged it though recording a 4-3 victory.
The UNDER 13’s WHITES travelled to Testlands and were also on the end of a narrow defeat going down 4-2.
Eve Summerill fired home 4 goals to help the UNDER 13’s GREENS to net a 4-0 home win against Sholing Girls.
A special mention to Sophie Shord who set up one of Summerill’s goals with a fine pass from the halfway line, before she powered it into the net over the head of the goalie.
Clarendon keeper Jemma David also made a fantastic penalty save to keep a clean sheet.
The UNDER 12’s WHITES won 1-0 away to Romsey thanks to Tom Latter scoring the only goal of the game.
The UNDER 12’s REDS travelled to New Milton to take on PDC in their first round of the Invitational cup away which ended in a brilliantly contested 4-4 draw.
PDC opened the scoring before Jay Burden made a great run then unselfishly slotted through Luca Potgieter who scored the equaliser.
The second came from a Charlie Malcolm corner that swerved straight in like an Apollo 13 slingshot around the moon.
Finlay Cross made a darting run into the box only to be stopped by a late tackle and winning a penalty which Charlie Malcolm converted making it 3-2.
Having hot footed it from the Whites, Tom Latter arrived for a perfect cameo for the Reds showing unbelievable strength and skill to hold off two defenders, turning, with a quick snap shot to make it 4-4.
Special mention to Tristan De-Weymarn, who as stand-in keeper showed great resilience and made some great saves, playing in goal for the very first time.
The UNDER 11’s REDS had a much better performance against Broughton this time out.
The boys were asked to go out and believe in themselves and battle for every ball which they all did to a tee!
Even after conceding they kept their nerve and didn’t let their heads drop, deservedly getting back in the game after some good work down the left Jack Bunt produced a great cut back with his left foot for Dylan Baldwin to score.
Baldwin and Bancroft on loan from the Sunday team helped out throughout the game to cover the Reds who were missing a few with injuries and illness.
As the game continued the Reds managed to start dominating the centre of the park and were winning a lot of the second balls to maintain pressure on Broughton.
Against the run of play Broughtons quick striker broke away and added to his first goal to score his second.
A quick change at the back involved moving the standout Dylan Hopkins into defence to nullify the Broughton counters worked perfectly and the Reds weren’t to concede again.
One truly magnificent save from Toby Longstaff also thwarted the Broughton team and had both sets of supporters clapping!
The Reds came in at half time behind but the boys weren’t deterred and a great through ball by man of the match Dylan Hopkins into Aiden Willets path meant he was clean through and he duly tucked into the corner.
It was end to end for the rest of the game and chances were created but both defences held firm.
The Reds showed that they can match any team in their league if they turn up with the right attitude and determination.
It was a tough day at the office for the UNDER 11’s WHITES as they hosted Atalanta Elite.
Trying a new formation didn’t go quite as planned but the team did see some good spells and they visitors were more clinical in the box.
Teddy Guymer did manage to get them on the scoresheet while Jack Well was player of the match.
The UNDER 10’s WHITES travelled to Downton, the the hosts starting well and it wasn’t until the last quarter that the Whites came alive.
Driving forward from midfield they started to pepper the Doenton goal with shots but just couldn’t score more than a strike from Josh Miles.
Igor Podsiadlo’s determination and aggression in the midfield saw him pick up the player of the match.
The UNDER 9’s REDS had an absolute stormer of a game against Alderholt Spartans with the sides sharing 11 goal.
Dexter Podger scored from a great corner delivery before Amaru Castellano fired home a hatrick after playing in goal and James Layet was also on target with a smart finish.
Player of the match went jointly to Layet and Austin Field.
In stark contrast the UNDER 9’s WHITES were involved in a rarity at mini soccer - that of a goalless draw against Shipton Bellinger Rams.
The defensive discipline shown by the team was much improved over recent weeks and the coaches were impressed with the efforts shown by the whole the team.
Player of the match went to Joe Malcolm for leading by example in defence.
The UNDER 8’s REDS hosted Alderholt Raptors with them continued their preparations for next season with another match on 7-a-side pitch.
From the off the football was on point, lots of team passing, high pressing to win the ball back with Tom Brown himself a hatrick for his efforts on the high press from upfront.
Lucy Murphy, Eddie Harris, Sam Kempson all got their name on the scoresheet along with Oscar Watts who scored his 50th goal for the club.
Arthur Knight did very well in defence winning the ball back and then some great skills and footwork to then play forward.
Nellie Robinson and Elsie Tinne worked hard in midfield and created a lot of chances for the goal scored.
Player of the match this week went to Robinson for her passing, hard work & determination to win the ball back.
The UNDER 7’s REDS had a thrilling end-to-end encounter away at Downton.
The reds dominated in the first half, going into the break with three goals courtesy of a Evie Provan hat trick.
The team seemed to take our foot off the gas in the third quarter though allowing Downton to score a couple of fine goals before Arlo Watts brought up his own 50th goal for the club from close range.
Evan Parkman showed a big improvement, working hard and so took home the player of the match for the first time.
The UNDER 7’s WHITES went on the long road to New Milton to play a strong PDC team.
The hosts were on top in the first quarter before the Whites came back strongly in the second quarter.
Ethan Glanville run on to a goal kick from Alexander Delgado-Kemp, sprinting past the defenders to place the ball past the keeper for the Whites goal.
PDC responded strongly but the whites were unlucky not to add more goals, with a number of players going close.
Everyone stuck at it and made the game the competitive. Player of the match went to Ryan Burton for some trade mark crunching tackles and a good quarter in goal.
The SATURDAY SENIOR side hosted Comrades A and turned to experience
to overcome the visitors in what proved to be a combative affair.
Paul Green was quick to stamp his authority on proceedings marshalling the back line and winning everything in the air.
Despite rattling the crossbar 3 times, Clarendon found themselves 1 down against the run of play.
Charlie Humber’s fine run of form continued as he equalised just before half time.
Despite the majority of possession Clarendon struggled to find further openings, until Rob King entered the arena.
Calm and composed, he started to boss the midfield. Pressure lead to a corner and a finely struck finish from Will Waters gave them the lead.
King then found Jack Latter, not once but twice who in turn produced crosses for Humber and Waters to complete their brace as saw them run out 4-1 winners
On Sunday the UNDER 11’s GREENS travelled to Hampshire HQ in Basingstoke for their plate final against Hythe & Dibden Jaguars.
A tense affair saw chances few and far between as both sides battled to get their noses in front.
With time ebbing away and a shootout looming, Lily Reynolds was fouled in the box for a last minute penalty.
Up stepped Emily Haigh to smash home the winning goal and bring the first cup success for the club this season in their debut season.
In the league the UNDER 11’s SUNDAY hosted South Newton & Barford Hornets..
Ethan Spelling had a fine game in goal while Katari Castellano was player of the match along with Dylan Baldwin scoring twice with well taken goals.
The UNDER 9’s GREENS hosted Durrington and it didn’t take long for the goals to come along.
A long goal kick from Mia Roche found Nellie Robinson who beat the last defender in the left to fire across keeper in to far corner. Robinson doubled her tally, after another long ball from Roche.
Roche got her name on the scoresheet as she smashed over the keeper from distance, which was shortly followed by a hattrick of assists and she set Nellie Robinson up for her hattrick.
At the other end, Maisie Hopkins made some great passes forward with Chloe Howle making some excellent saves in goal.
India Morgan was battling hard all over the pitch, she made some excellent tackles and important tackles and passes.
Elsie Tinne then fired in her first goal of the game, and her second followed as she smashed the ball in from the left hand side to earn herself a very well deserved brace.
The team move of the game came when Roche made a great tackle, she passed to Chloe Howle, who ran down the line to pass forward to Elsie Tinne who perfectly squared to Robinson unmarked in the middle for her fourth goal of the game.
Two rockets finished the game off for the greens, one was a well placed Roche free kick, and the other was from player of the match Lilly Davies who struck from distance, and her thunderous effort tore through the Durrington defence leaving the keeper without a chance.
