Wyke ran in a stunning show, blitzing a Clayton side in the second half who showed all the rustiness expected given the clubs contrasting preparations! Wyke were ruthless in attack and Clayton simply could not live with the fresh visitors, who looked like a side who had just started a new summer league campaign, compared with a side who last played a competitive game 5 weeks ago.
The first half was a competitive affair, as expected. Clayton actually took the lead and stayed with the visitors, despite Liam Jacklin's sin binning. Jamie Waterman registered two trademark tries, smashing his way through from close range. Josh Belson added a third, finishing well in the corner after a sweeping move. Unfortunately for Clayton, that was as good as it got, as Wyke ruthlessly exposed Clayton's rustiness with a stunning second half showing, taking the cup back home with a deserved success.
