Cleethorpes started the game very well and Cooper almost gave the Owls the lead, after his effort was well saved by the Rangers goalkeeper following a great through ball from Richardson.
Just after the ten minute mark, Cleethorpes took the lead, as captain Flett headed in from inside the 6 yard box after a good corner by Peter Winn.
Following the goal, Clee continued to push for another goal, as Jon Oglesby played a great through ball into Andy Taylor broke in the 14th minute, however his effort was well saved.
Despite the Owls still having the better of the game, Hall Road Rangers equalised on the 39th minute, as a corner was headed into the top corner.
The score wasn’t level for long though, as a minute after the equaliser, Cleethorpes took the lead, after Cooper’s effort hit the bar and was then cleared off the line by the defender, however the ball was only cleared as far as Liam Davis, who headed the ball home.
The second half started quietly with no real chances for either side. However, on the 70th minute mark, a fantastic volley by midfielder Liam Davis made it 3-1 to the Owls after his effort flew into the top corner.
Shortly after, Alex Flett went close to getting his second of the game, as his free kick was plucked out of the top corner by the Hall Road goalkeeper.
The Owls grabbed their 4th goal just before full time, as Cleethorpes were awarded a penalty after a bad tackle on Oglesby in the box. The penalty was then dispatched by forward Danny North.
The game ended 4-1 and more importantly helped the players gain more match fitness ahead of the start of the season next week.
