We were the first ball out the famous velvet bag this afternoon in the North section of the Fourth Round Qualifying draw at Wembley Stadium. The Owls will play Stourbridge at New Linden on Saturday 20th October.
Just one small problem before that mouthwatering prospect can become a reality, we have the huge obstacle of National North Guiseley standing in our path tomorrow evening at Nethermoor.
As in the last round at Bamber Bridge, we enter the encounter as big underdogs. However, everyone associated with the Owls will be hoping for a similar display to the one witnessed in Lancashire. A scintillating 5-0 victory was the outcome, with Jon Oglesby (pictured) leading the charge with a hat-trick.
On Saturday, a cagey first 45 gave way to an exciting second period. Will Hatfield and Kingsley James scored just after the hour as the Lions roared into a 2-goal lead. Clee kept battling though and Danny North gave us hope with 6 to play. Just four minutes later, more excellent skill by North set-up Scott Vernon to nod home the equaliser.
Guiseley will doubtless be very disappointed not to already be planning for Stourbridge but, yet again, the Owls never-say-die spirit came to the rescue.
With Josh Batty back from suspension and injuries clearing up, we have a full squad to select from. A good number of travelling fans are expected to make the journey to Yorkshire but, if you are not going, there will be full commentary on Owls FM (Mixlr app) and our usual twitter service.
So the scene is set... can we cause an upset? One thing is for certain, it will be decided on the night with extra-time and penalties if needed.
