Captain Darren Hanslip put the hosts in front on 32 minutes after Jack Barlow had initially blocked a keepers clearance. The ball then fell to Marc Cooper who saw he shot block into the path of Hanslip who couldn't miss from 2 yards out.
The visitors did level though shortly before the break when Joe Danby struck home from 20 yards out. After the break, both sides had chances to take the lead but it was Pickering who struck next. A foul on a Pikes midfielder inside the box from Matthew Coleman was penalised by the referee and a penalty was awarded. Tony Hackworth duly did the honours and slotted home to Brad Beatties right.
Only three minutes later though and the game was once again level as Hanslip towered above his marker and thundered a header home from close range.
The game then became stretched with both sides tiring but it was Pickering who took the lead with just 25 minutes left as Ryan Cooper broke the offside trap and tapped the ball home follow a low cross. Cooper then was celebrating for the second time in the 76th minute when he tap home following a deep cross which evaded the Owls defence.
This defeat leaves the Owls languishing in 15th place, however they do have multiple games in hand following their recent cup run.
