Cleethorpes Town were held on Tuesday evening against Handsworth Parramore at Sandy Lane. The Owls took the lead through Brody Robertson but the Ambers levelled just before the break when Gareth Griffiths slid in. Handsworth were reduced to nine men shortly before the end and Luke Mascall saw red minutes later as the Owls finished with 10.
Owls boss Marcus Newell made just one change to the line-up from Saturday's 3-0 win over Staveley Miners Welfare. Jonathan Oglesby came back into the line-up as Caine Winfarrah was unavailable.
The Owls tried to start where they left off in Saturday's win and nearly scored within five minute as Oglesby tried his luck from just outside the box but saw the ball whistle past the post.
Two minutes later and from a Handsworth corner, the Owls broke forward with the ball making its way to Robertson but he dragged his shot wide much to his angst.
The pressure kept mounting as Matthew Bloomer went close as Archie Sneath had to think fast to save his dipping volley.
They pressed even harder, and got their reward in the 18th minute as leading scorer Marc Cooper shot from distance. The power was too much for Sneath who could only parry the ball into the path of Robertson who tapped home sending the travelling fans into raptures.
Kieran Wressell headed inches over six minutes later, then Cooper's stumbled effort went wide after a perfectly times one-two with Robertson.
With barely two minutes left of the half, Handsworth equalised. A free kick which was floated in was turned home by the midfielder levelling the game at the break.
With no changes at the break, the opening few minutes were frantic as the Owls look to get back into the lead. Robertson was first to have a chance but he spurned a Oglesby cross. Then Cooper went close but could not test the keeper.
At the other end, Kieran Wells' looping header forced Miles Fenty into a smart save. Griffiths then nearly added another goal to his tally when his 25 yard strike went inches wide.
Both sides then hit the woodwork. It was the Owls who struck first as Oglesby's right-footed shot came back off the upright then Theo Wilson's header glanced off the outside of the post.
With the clock ticking down and legs tiring, a coming together of places in the centre circle saw Ambers scorer Grittiths send off alongside Colin Marrison for an off the ball incident.
Just two minutes later and the Owls were down to ten men as Mascall saw red.
The Owls came closest to stealing all three points with two minutes left but once again the frame of the goal came to the rescue as Alex Flett's free-kick rattled off the crossbar.
The referee blew after a tense five minutes of added time with the Owls slightly disappointed having not got that second goal.
