Cleethorpes Town will be satisfied as a hard-fought draw saw them return from Leek Town who sit in the top 5 in the league with a point. It was back in March 2016 that Cleethorpes were involved in the goalless draw.
Cleethorpes had the better of the opening period with Leek being pushed back as Cleethorpes looked to press forward. Jon Oglesby curled an early shot early and Andrew Taylor could have done better when he pounced on a weak header but shot past the post.
Cleethorpes created a couple of more openings early in the second half as chance created by some incisive wing play saw the ball flash wide of goal in the just after half time by Cooper and shortly after a shot from Oglesby just flashed across the goal on another day we have seen those nestle in the net but this time it was not to be.
Cleethorpes were finding creating clear chances a premium as the home side look more concerned with damage limitation as chances for the hosts where limited as Oli Donald and Matthew Bloomer were superb rebuffing any attacks with the support of the team.
Liam Higton had a low drive that was saved well in the wet conditions being the only save that Liam had to make in the game. The last 10 minutes saw leek release the attacking shackles and saw a shot sail over the bar as Higton went further untroubled.
Cleethorpes take the point against the fifth placed side as they prepare to welcome Belper to Bradley on Wednesday evening
