Grimsby Borough Reserves 0 – 4 Cleethorpes Town
Two goals in each half saw Cleethorpes Town keep their impressive record of form going once again in game that proved comfortable at the end of the game. The early attacking saw Cleethorpes Go close when Ricky Belding saw his shot blocked in the area after Jonathan Oglesby found him in the box following a run into the box. A Oglesby Freekick then saw Renzie Lobenhan head into the floor into the arms of Johnson in the Grimsby Borough Goal. At the other end a shot from Clarke blazed over the bar.
Phil Cawley and Belding went close with a shot wide and header over the bar respectively, Cawley then headed wide from another cross into the box. From a freekick on the half way line a short Freekick was taken by Steer who played across field to Marc Sawyer who’s ball into the box was headed into the net by Cawley to put Cleethorpes ahead. Borough then saw a shot saved well by Scott Drury from Reece Newell. Cleethorpes then extended their lead following as a ball into the box allowed Belding to get behind the defence to slot the ball past Johnson to make it 2 – 0 at half time.
The second half continued in the same vein and any doubts about the result where dismissed after a move from Sawyer at Left back where the ball was played across the defence to right back where Luke Neul who drove forward into the Borough half and a cross into the box found Cawley who headed home to cap off a fine move. Sawyer then finished the scoring from a free kick outside the area after Belding was cut down to earn the free kick and Sawyer shot low into the corner to make it four. Oglesby, Wilson and Steer all had efforts on goal before Drury was forced into action to save a penalty for the second game running to cap off another victory for Cleethorpes Town.
