Fine victory at the Jakemans

Boston United Reserves 0 – 1 Cleethorpes Town
The top of the table Clash saw both sides who so far have 100% records meet in what promised to be a fascinating encounter. The game was nervy to start with and Cleethorpes settled much quicker and saw them create the early chances. Ricky Belding had a run into the box but his shot was blocked after a move down the right hand side. Not long after Belding was set free again and as he cut into the box the ball was half cleared where Cleethorpes sent the ball wide to the left and Jonathan Oglesby put the ball into the box where Belding picked the ball up to slot home past Andrew Hewitt in the Boston Goal.
Boston saw a long range effort from Liam Ogden go over the bar and Cleethorpes saw an Lobbed effort from Phil Cawley go wide after he rushed his effort. Cleethorpes were getting behind the Boston full backs and it was no surprise when Boston changed their system to go five in the middle to try and stifle the supply on the wings. Before half time a corner to Boston saw Nathan Rawdon head wide at the far post.
The second half was again a tight affair but Cleethorpes made it harder for themselves as Cawley was dismissed for a second yellow card with 30 minutes to go. Boston looked to go forward but despite increased possession of the ball they continued to test the Cleethorpes keeper Scott Drury who had little to do with his only notable action was to par a long range free kick into the box that evaded both defenders and attackers.
Despite the 10 men Cleethorpes did go forward and Belding had the chance to seal the game as he went through once gain but he could not the shot away under pressure from Hewitt and Dawson. Then a move down the wing saw the ball into the middle where Luke Mascall saw his shot saved low down by Hewitt just in front of the advancing Lewis Peters.
The final whistle was blown and Cleethorpes continued their fine form by ending Boston’s own unbeaten record at the same time. The win would of sent Cleethorpes top but they have to wait for the pints to be awarded for the Bank Holiday Monday game when CGB Humbertherm failed to fulfil the fixture.
