We return to League action on Tuesday evening (7.45pm) after a 17-day absence with a visit to New Linden from our former NCEL rivals AFC Mansfield.
A lot has happened since our last Evostik East outing, which was a crushing 5-1 win at Belper Town. After losing in the League Cup at Frickley Athletic, we were held to a 3-3 draw by Bamber Bridge in the FA Cup.
Few would have predicted a 5-0 outcome in our favour in the replay. However, inspired by a hat-trick from Jon Oglesby, the result on the night did not flatter us. This was followed by a 3-1 win against Mossley in the opening round of the FA Trophy. A brace from Josh Batty and another from Oglesby did the damage.
Due to our knock-out progress, we now find ourselves at the foot of the table but we do enjoy at least two games in hands on all our divisional rivals. We need to start putting some points on the board quickly though, before the top teams disappear over the horizon. Recent results show we are certainly capable of putting a strong run together.
After gaining promotion, our Nottinghamshire visitors have started life at the higher level in reasonable fashion. They sit in 15th place with 10 points gained from 8 games.
All Owls' fans will recall our last game against AFC Mansfield. It was in the 2016/17 season when we won 4-1 at Bradley and Alex Flett lifted the NCEL championship trophy afterwards!
So, we are set for another interesting fixture and all support will be welcomed!
