Cleethoorpes Town picked up 3 points as they beat Dinnington 2 – 0 on Bank Holiday Monday. Cleethorpes made 5 changes to the side that drew against Pontefract in the previous game and where soon looking to attack there hosts with Brody Robertson proving a handful in the early stages. Cleethorpes had already gone close through efforts from Luke Mascall, Brody Robertson and Alex Flett whom all tested the Dinnington keeper.
A deserved lead was took as Oglesby played in Marc Cooper who drilled the ball low into the net to provide a deserved lead, the game was near enough all one way with the only danger coming from the hosts when the ball was launched into the Cleethorpes box where recalled keeper Scott Drury had to be at his best to deal with.
Half time came and the only mystery was how Cleethorpes had only scored the once, the second half saw the same patterns of play with only Cleethorpes looking capable of scoring with Mascall, Oglesby, Cooper and Sawyer all having efforts on goal.
It was Cooper though who got the side’s second goal and his second of the game as a ball into the box found Cooper unmarked who duly scored, Cleethorpes kept pushing and in order to keep the pressure on made a triple substitution with 2 of the substitutes forcing the Dinington keeper into action – Osbourne and Deeming.
It was only in the final 5 minutes that the hosts applied any kind of pressure but this was weathered without any alarms for the visitors who ran out comfortable winners on a warm afternoon.
