In their final pre-season game before entering in to League action next week, Clevedon Town entertained Cwmbran Celtic from the Welsh Division One at the Hand Stadium.
With a strong wind at their backs, Town started slowly and it was the visitors who took the lead in the thirteenth minute when Luke Thomas found himself one-on-one with Kane Mannings, Thomas took the ball out to the side of the area and chipped it back past Mannings to put the visitors one up.
The game settled down with both sides playing good football, Clevedon creating chances with the best falling to Isaac Reid who shot from outside of the box only to see his effort pass the wrong side of the post. The hosts were rewarded for their pressure on thirty five minutes when Louis Keane unleashed a shot from some twenty five yards out that curled past Nicky Church in the visitors goal to put the teams level.
Half Time: Clevedon Town 1 Cwmbran Celtic 1
Cwmbran came out strong in the second half and took the lead within seven minutes of the restart, Luke Thomas was again the scorer as he picked up the ball on the half-way line and worked his way through the home defence before hitting a shot in to the far corner of the net, giving Kane Mannings no chance.
Town had a chance to equalise on seventy four minutes when Dominic Stewart was brought down in the area, Troy Budd took the spot kick but fired it straight at Church who made a fine save.
