The Seasiders entertain Brislington on Wednesday, kick-off at 7:30 pm, in the Jewson Western League, when supporters will get the first chance to welcome the return of Lucas Vowles to the club.
Clevedon and Brislington last met in the league in 2021/2022 when the Seasiders completed a double, 4-2 away and 4-1 at home, but Brislington won a Les Phillips Cup tie 2-0 at the Everyone Active Hand Stadium last season, so the Seasiders know what to expect.
After winning promotion from Division One last season Brislington got off to a flyer in the Premier winning their first five league games, which is in complete contrast to defeats in the last four and which has seen them slip to ninth.
After Saturday’s unavoidable abandonment Clevedon will be looking to continue their six game winning run and hope to regain top spot from Brixham although the Fishermen are also in action on Wednesday at St Blazey.
There are usually goals in games between the two sides, including 30 in the last five. But with the Seasiders now boasting the two Premier Division leading scorers, Freddie King and Lucas Vowles in their squad, and Jordan Scadding who scored a goal of the season contender in the cup game last season, a Brislington regular, it’s sure to be fun.
