Clevedon travelled to The Tannery Ground and competed well against Street for the first 45 minutes but couldn’t maintain the momentum after the break when a goal by Town old-boy Nathan Rudge was enough to see them lose by 2 goals to 1.

Clevedon welcomed Isaac Reid back to lead the line alongside Liam Knight and started the game playing down the slight slope. On 13 minutes a Will Manning free-kick into the box was headed clear to captain Kevin Camargo who shot over from 20 yards.

In the 18th minute Kevin Camargo played the ball down the right for Liam Knight to chase and cross into the middle where former Town keeper Frazier McDiarmid punched clear to the edge of the box where Will Manning’s attempted shot was well wide.

A long ball from the back on 20 minutes saw Street’s Josh Wadham put in a dangerous cross from the left to the far post but there were no team mates on hand to apply the finishing touch.

Street almost took the lead in the 22nd minute when a shot from Lewis Waldy hit the post and rebounded to safety.

Clevedon then took the lead on 24 minutes thanks to a great solo effort from Isaac Reid who collected the ball 30 yards out and outpaced both Nathan Rudge and Ben Robertson to hit a powerful shot passed Frazier McDiarmid and make the score 0-1.

The lead didn’t last long with Street equalising in the 28th minute. Lewis Tasker took a corner on the right and swung the ball to the far post where captain Ben Amghar nodded home to make the score 1-1.

On the stroke of half-time a Street free-kick saw Lewis Tasker cross for Ben Robertson to head over when well placed.

Street came out for the second half and immediately took the lead. A corner on the left by Josh Wadham was nodded on at the near post by Dale Hunt for Nathan Rudge to smash the ball home at the far post and make the score 2-1.

In the 52nd minute a shot by Matt Hurlem was well saved by Ben Gast.

Street nearly went further ahead on 68 minutes when the ball was played through to Craig Herrod whose fierce shot was pushed onto the bar by Ben Gast and away for a corner.

In the 78th minute the ball was played to Isaac Reid in the corner on the left and faced with 2 Street defenders Isaac managed to turn inside and beat both before crossing into the box where the ball was cleared.

On 81 minutes Clevedon had to be grateful to Ben Gast when Josh Wadham was through on goal and the keeper made an excellent save.

Clevedon kept pushing for the equaliser and in the 89th minute Kevin Camargo floated a free-kick to the far post where Kaine Gazzard got his head to the ball but couldn’t direct it on target and the ball flew over.

Clevedon are next in action on Saturday 17th September when Melksham Town are the visitors to The Everyone Active Stadium with a 3:00 pm kick-off.
