Fifteen Minutes with Lee Pugh
AUTHOR: JAMES BURCH

Former Clitheroe left-back, Lee Pugh is the first player to take part in the websites new feature – ‘Fifteen Minutes with a Former Blue.’
See what the 22 year old Lancastrian had to say about his memories of playing at Shawbridge and what he is now doing in his career, playing for Evo-Stik Northern Premier League side,Ramsbottom United.

Team you played for before Clitheroe signed you?
Ramsbottom united

How did it come about signing for Clitheroe?

I wasn't really playing much and I asked if I could leave Ramsbottom. Within a week or so Carl Garner got in touch and I signed for Clitheroe. I ended up playing for around two and a half seasons at Shawbridge, scoring five goals.

Best game for the side?
My debut against Prescot Cables. A game in which I scored one and assisted twice.

Best moment playing for the side?
Under Paul Moore we finished just below the play offs, exceeding a lot of expectations at the time.

Biggest influence while at the club?
Many from Anne Barker to the managers I played under. The fans were fantastic and you just want to give your all for them and do them proud as they are second to none.

What was the atmosphere like at games from the fans and in the dressing room?
The fans have always been brilliant to me and I still have a great relationship with them to this day. The dressing rooms under Paul Moore were brilliant the likes of Hakan, Nangle, Ollie and Ross. We were all locals’ lads who we played together and went out with the idea that there was nothing better than enjoying football and playing with your mates

Fondest memories while at the club and any silverware while at the club?
Being given the captaincy at the age of twenty was a huge honour for me and one thing I will remember for a long time.

Do you still get to watch Clitheroe when you get the chance?
Now and again when I'm not playing. I'll always check to see if I can get over. If not it's always one of the first results I check when my match has finished.

What did you do after leaving Clitheroe?
The team had a really good season and I had a few clubs sniffing around me during the Christmas period. I turned down a Conference North team and an Evo-Stik Premier Side because I believed with the side we had we could make a push for the playoffs and I wanted to stay loyal and like I said previously there's no better feeling than playing with your mates.

By the end of the season Chester in the Conference National got in touch and it was an opportunity I couldn't turned down as I wanted to test myself.

What do you do now in your spare time?
I work as a planner for a textile manufacturing company and still play football for Ramsbottom United.
