Ahead of tonight's reply of the round 20 game vs Wigan St Patricks A.R.L.F.C ,
Lee Cunningham (sponsored by The Bull and Dog ) gives his thoughts on the game ???
"We are stoked to have the opportunity to welcome the return of what perhaps many people consider the country's biggest and most prestigious grassroots rugby league club; we welcome Ryan Baxter, Dave Ruddy and their Wigan St Patricks back to St Helens to once again compete for what is two incredibly valuable league points for both clubs.
The importance is for a different reason for the Pats compared to ours, While they are chasing a place in the league playoffs, we, of course, are deep in the fight to avoid relegation. Whilst we do rely on the results of other teams around us to fall our way, we as a group can only focus on what we can control, and that is, namely, our emotions and our performance. Our need to be completely immersed in our game plan and not let negative distractions affect our outcomes is paramount. Our confidence in the camp is high; I haven't seen us as settled for quite some time, certainly, since I have taken on the Head Coach role. So now it is time to hand over to our young guns to keep a clear head, play with intent and execute any opportunities that may fall our way.
If we do manage to avoid relegation then there can be no debate about our earning of safety. You can consider the adversity of the game being replayed, forcing us to play 3 key games inside of 7 days, losing home advantage in this replay of our Pats league game, by having to play at Thatto Heaths ground, and finally the Skirlaugh game on Saturday falls on a day when the M62 is closed completely, which of course will have deep ramifications on our travel plans for the day. Regardless of this, though, I still hold a deep belief in the abilities and team-first attitudes of our Miners. What an honour it is for me, that they let me lead them into battle, I will do all that I can in the next 4 or 5 days to ensure that a successful outcome is still a dream come 4 pm on Saturday when we check the NCL website for division 1 results
A massive and sincere thank you must go out to all of the Clock Face supporters. We have been through some tough experiences this year on our journey together, but we have to ask for two more efforts before we draw the 2024 season curtain to a close. You are an amazing group of people, which was evidenced by last Saturday's Race Night fundraiser... Wow!! What a brilliant atmosphere as the community came together to help us to raise over £1400. Special people create special memories.
2 games, 160 minutes to be completed with a single focused vision embraced... Lets do this!!!
Take care, be kind, and keep smiling"
