Match report

Cockermouth shuffled their pack and gave starts to Peter Kemp & Dan Burns, with Mitchell & Thompson moviomg up from the bench to start. Playing a young Mirehouse team which is the nucleous of the current Cumberland FA County U18 team, it made for a very ggod game of football, with both teams passing the ball succesfully.
Mirehouse dominated the play in the first period, due to Cockermouth not been able to contain the 3-5-2 system that they deployed. Once Thompson was moved inside to assist the impressive Nicholson and Speirs, Cockermouth came more into the game, A slick passing move found Thompson free on the left and with quick feet and deft acceleration, he cleared the defenders and rifled the ball home to give the visiters the lead at half time. Cockermouths defence again proved solid, with Simon Taylor giving another good performance in the heart of defence.
The second half was keenly contested, however some good work from Burns on the right led to him sending a supberb cross to the far post, which was met with purpose by Skillen to send the visiters 2 goals clear.
Mirehose pushed forward to seek an equaliser, however a scramble in the goal mouth saw the ball fall at the feet of mitchell, who seeled the match with Cockermouths third goal. Mirehouse complained that he was offside, but the linesman confimed to ref, McMahon that he was onside and the goal stood.
Management team of Ostle and Eastwood were again impressed withe the teams commitment and general good play. They can now pass the reins back to manager Dave Richards, having won all three games whilst they were in charge.
