Thanks to James and Simon the pitch looked spectacular for The Colts first home game of the season. The Colts had lost their previous three games and were determined to get back to winning ways. They started the game brightly and soon began peppering the opposition goal. Joe Showering, Jack lyons and Caine Garner all went close in the opening exchanges. On 5 minutes Harrison Gray was pulled down in the box and Jack Lyons took the resulting penalty. Unfortunately he just pulled the shot wide of the keepers left hand post. It wasn't long though before The Colts were in front, Caine Garner powered his way down the right wing before unleashing an exorcet of a shot into the top right hand corner. The Colts pressed for more and were totally dominating when Forest had two quick fire shots that resulted in 2 goals. So 2-1 down and totally against the run of play. The Colts were back on terms just before half time. This time a free kick from Caine Garner from 20 yards sailed over everyone and landed firmly into the roof of the net.
Half time 2-2
The second half begain in the same vein with The Colts pressing high up the pitch. The midfield engine room of Joe Partridge and Harrison Gray provided the tempo, Sam Cox caused constant problems, Charlie Powell went close on a couple of occasions as Caine Garner lead the line. A special mention though has to go to Harry Jeffries who played a lone role at the back. Harry mopped up everything with a cool head and left keeper Josh Court a virtual spectator in the second half. The Colts pressed and pressed and were finally rewarded when Sam Cox was pushed and the ref gave a foul just outside the box. Up stepped Caine Garner to place an absolute beauty into the top right hand corner that the keeper could only just get his fingers to.
The Colts saw the game out and recorded their first win of the season. A fantastic effort from all involved and great game to watch.
