Bears proved too strong for Highgate, with a 5-1 win

First of all I’d just like to say a huge thank you for all the support. you have given me across the season with the match reports. It means a lot to me! ?⚽️
In what is the final game of the 2023/24 season for the Bears. It could get even better for the bears with more sliverware on offer tonight.
After another fantastic season Richard Duffy’s men clinched the Midland league title. And finished 8 points ahead of 2nd place. Some may say the Bears were just too good to be put in a league Like this.
Tonight’s opposition is Highgate United who on their last game of the season needed a huge win of 12-0 to gain a playoff place.
That playoff game was played on Saturday 27th April they faced Lichfield City and were outclassed going 3 nil down inside 34 minutes.
I know the Bear faithful will be looking at getting under the skin of a few Highgate United players this evening, the goalkeeper in particular. Let’s just hope there is no McDonald’s near by…
The Bear army have travelled to Walsall in numbers! Not many Highgate fans in sight.
Team news:
Richard Duffy puts himself on the bench. With top Goalscorer Dan Needham starting after injury. Full team.

First half:
Highgate started off well but congleton have come into the game. With a few good chances, Barton and Williams with big Chances to try get the first goal.
Peter Williams with another chance for the bears but it’s over the bears. The bear army are massive tonight in Walsall. With Highgate’s only fan been escorted out ?
Congleton are on top and looking the most likely to score.

MAX MCCARTHY with the first goal! Great finish and the bear army are in fine voice and completely outnumbering the bear army!
Congleton with a big penalty claim the referee waved away the protest.

Congleton have been fantastic in the first half there play is fantastic. Highgate have been woeful and there number 1 and defenfer number 6 have been getting lots of stick. after last time we played them.
Second half:
Highgate with a few early chances in this second half. And they are the team on top. Seeing much more of the ball in This second half.
Pete Williams with fantastic work he drives forward with the ball.
