Congleton Town back at home today and my first Saturday game watching the Bears for awhile! Congleton are in really good form in the league at the minute. Sitting in a comfortable fifth place. And third in the form table six games with thirteen points. After a draw last week away they will be hoping for another good result today.
Today’s opposition entering the Bear Pit is Newcastle Town. Who themselves are having a good season so far they sit in seventh place. Only two points off the Bears. Last time out on Tuesday night they beat a Clitheroe side who we face this coming Tuesday 2-1
Ethan hartshorn and Kieran garner knapper start for owthe bears this afternoon. Max McCarthy, Daniel Needham on the bench. (Good to see Danny Needham back on the bench)
It’s a chilly Dull afternoon in Congleton but at least it’s not raining!
First Half:
Early stages of the game sees Newcastle with a lot of the ball. And Richard Duffy getting a telling off from the referee for reasons I don’t know.
Marco fregapane does really well to stop that Newcastle attack. The Bears defence playing really well once more.
A break away for Newcastle but there no 7 can’t find the right pass and it trickles out of the play.
The referee is very strict today giving free kicks for the slightest of touches.
The Bears playing well defensively inside the first 30 minutes of the game with either team really threatening the goalkeepers.
Dave Parton forced into make a good double save. as the Newcastle town attacker breached the defence.
The attacker number 11 for Newcastle looking for an Oscar goes near Dave Parton when collecting the ball and dives to the Floor. EMBARRASSING!
Another chance for Newcastle but hits the post and goes out of play for throw for the bears.
Pressure by Newcastle Town in the closing stages of the first half but it finshes at half time 0-0

It was a first half that both teams will not be happy with. Not many clear chances. Congleton will be hoping to up the pace in the second half and try to create some chances. As will Newcastle Town. Fingers crossed for a good Second half ??
Second half:
?Kieran garner Knappwr comes off at half time on comes Tom Hampton.
An early chance for the bears in the second half Matthew Gilliam forces the Newcastle keeper into making a good save.
Two shouts by the bear faithful for handball one was most definitely not sure about the second.
A fantastic start to this arcing half by the bears. Congleton win a free kick in a good position Peter Williams to take and forces the keeper into another save.
The referee points for another soft free kick for Newcastle town, he has been very poor this game.

Corner for the bears taken by Pete Williams a great ball in, Darren Chadwick with the header that rattles the cross bar.
?Another Sub for the bears off comes Owen Morris who’s picked up a knock on comes Joshua Hall.

Two penalty shouts again for the bears the referee waves away the protests. He has been so so poor today.
The bears struggling to keep hold of the ball in this game for long periods. Newcastle seeing lots of the ball but can’t do anthing with it.
Max Mccarthy with the shot and first chance for the bears in awhile but it’s hit over.

In a game that lacked action it was a hard fought point for both sides. Not the most entertaining of games BUT you can’t win every game and a point is still a good result.

Man of the Match: Marco Fregapane defended well today especially in the first half down his flank.
The bears are back in action on Tuesday night against Clitheroe at home 7:45 KO
