As the season comes to an end

well done to all our players
- Barry Cook

The Club history and record books continue to be re-written at all levels during our Centenary season. The Men’s1st XV senior team finished their league season with the Club’s highest ever league and points position in Regional North 2. They also played in the Durham County Men’s senior cup final for the very first time. Our Senior Women’s XV team also finished their first ever league season in Women’s NC3 league with Jayne Hansom finishing as the league’s top try scorer.

It doesn’t stop there either. We have also seen call ups to the U17’s County team for Riley Bell, Ethan Renwick and Zac Ringer, and at U20’s level James Jewitt has also represented the Club at county level.

At Senior Men’s county level, no fewer than five senior players have taken part in the first game of the Division 2 County Championships for Durham County. Kyle Cornellisen, Gareth Henderson, Brandon Asher-Wood, Oliver Smith, Jack O’Leary and Jack Yarrall. Brandon, Oliver and Jack Yarrall all getting on the scoresheet, Jack figuring twice, during the County’s 43-34 winning start against Notts,Lincs and Derbyshire County with more games to come in the championship.

Finally, Jayne Hansom has also been selected to start for Durham County Women XV in their opening fixture of the Gill Burns Championship away to Notts, Lincs and Derby following her excellent club season.

The future at Consett RFC looks bright and healthy with over 250 minis and juniors coming through at all ages, building for future success both on and off the field. Why don’t you come along and join us when the new season starts in September?

The centenary story continues….
