The new logo states the year the club was formed (est. 1948) and the Stafford knot is proudly presented centre stage. The Stafford knot is an ancient heraldic device known as a badge.
Why is the knot associated with Costessey? In 1825 the Jerningham family convinced the House of Lords to revive the title the Earl of Stafford for the Baronet Sir George Jerningham. The Jernighams established themselves in Costessey and built Costessey Hall - the remains of which (the belfry block) can still be seen (on the golf course) from our grounds and Longwater Lane.
