Following the departure of the majority of last seasons squad it has been a full rebuild at Glantraeth this summer both on and off the field. The new management team have worked tirelessly to rebuild the squad and with CPD Llanberis offering a stern test for the new players. The team consisting of 7 players under the age of 18 got off to a positive start with Llanberis seeing a lot of the ball within their own half but not really troubling Glantraeth. With Glantraeth creating a couple of half chances Llanberis were able to counter which resulted in the attacker being fouled in the box for a penalty. Which was calmly converted to make it 1-0 Llanberis. This did not dent the confidence of the younger players and pressed hard for an equaliser which came on the stroke of half time with an exquisite finish from Cian Evans from outside the box. 1-1 and half time.
The second half got under way with Llanberis forcing an early corner which was skilfully turned in directly from the taker- 2-1 Llanberis! Again, this didn’t deter the players who continued to battle and in patches show their ability in possession. Mid way through the second half there was some great link up play in midfield which created a chance for Cian Evans who slotted past the keeper to make it 2-2. With fatigue kicking in it was Llanberis who finished the stronger but Glantraeth dug in to earn a draw in their first outing this season.

The players can be proud of themselves this evening and with Mynydd Llandegai visiting next Tuesday the management will be looking to strengthen further with the season fast approaching.
