3 Important Points in the Anglesey Derby

3 Important Points in the Anglesey Derby

I Williams10 Oct 2023 - 11:44

As we beat Amlwch 3-1 at Lon Bach

Last Saturday (07/10), we made the short journey to play Amlwch Town in another intriguing Anglesey Derby in which both teams were looking for that win to pull them out of that Bottom Tier of the Table.

Only the one change was made from the defeat at Gwalchmai the weekend before as Kieran Murphy returned to goal, and that meant that Tomos Jones reverted back to his familiar role in the back.

First Half began in a very tight affair, with Amlwch seeing most of the ball in the early running on a windy day making it difficult to play fluent football. As the half wore on, half chances were created from both teams but nothing troubling both Goalkeepers until midway through the first half, the team from Tan Parc took the lead - a cross from the left hand side from Gafyn Buckland found it's way to the glancing head of Josh Evans and with the Home GK rushing out to try and clear danger, the ball found itself to the bottom corner of the net to make it 1-0 to the Llan. And things got better 10 minutes later when a cross goal shot was parried by the Home GK only to find it's way to the on rushing Callum Roberts to put in the rebound to make it 2-0 to the Llan. After this Amlwch were trying to get back in the game and with their quick attack, they were finding spaces and nearly got back into it before Half Time only for Kieran to save brilliantly from close range to keep the score line 2-0.

Half Time - Amlwch 0 - 2 Llan

Second Half began very tentative for Llan, with Amlwch doing the early running trying to get back into the game, and they soon did with a Cian Evans goal that deflected into the bottom corner to make it game on again at 2-1 for Llan. But the two goal cushion was soon restored a few minutes later, a free kick from wide left touchline was swinged in by Arden Gisbourne that found itself dipping and over the Home GK into the far top corner to make it 3-1 for the Llan. The rest of the game found Amlwch trying to force their way back to the game, with Llan holding firm, with Kieran again called into action to make a fntastic save to keep the scoreline as it was. Llan used all their subs to finish of the game and get some fresh legs on as Gwion, Ioan, Dion, Nobu and Dylan replaced Gareth, Tomos, James, Callum and Aaron. A few chances were created towards the end of the game by both teams but nothing materialised and the score line finished 3-1 and a massive 3 points to the Llan.

Full Time - Amlwch 1 - 3 Llan

Overall, a highly important and massive win for Llan in their quest to pull away from the bottom of the League and to keep their momentum going with 2 wins out of the last 3 League games - a very disciplined performance overall.

No game this weekend (14/10), so our next game will be Trearddur Bay FC at Home (21/10).
