100% Home Record

Felin returned to league action this week with a home match against Llanrug FC.

The game was doubtfull but thanks to all the lads who turned up first thing to get the pitch ready for the match - you know who you are.

Before starting the report i would like to apologies to Dave Jones for for my thoughtless remarks in last weeks match report, I meant no malice when i accused him of being a Corn Flakes lover. I'm a massive fan of your work and appreciate the the publicity you give to the lower leagues.

Kick off under-away and conditions weren't the best-the wind being a burden for both teams. Felin started the brightest, a Matthew Hughes cross hitting the crossbar, the wind playing it's part in deceiving the keeper.

Despite majority of possession Felin weren't making the most of the widemen, and were gulity at times of holding onto the ball in the middle of the park for too long. When Llanrug finally got the ball they look dangerous especially down the flanks with their pace.

Tom Bach yet again played havoc with Llanrug, it seems the only way to stop this lad was to foul him, which played a massive part in the opener. A Felin freekick was tapped across goal by Daniel Hughes which landing at the feet of Matthew Hughes who managed to twist his body to get his shot off,Gruff John the poacher was on hand to assisting the ball into the nett.

It was Llanrugs turn to punish Felin, the pace of the frontmen was enough to outpace Felin defence.Despite Rhys Eds stopping the first strike he was helpless with the rebound, rumour has it Tom Bach (number 1 climber in Wales) would of been able to of stopped the goal.

Felin soon regained the lead with some great one touch football - Gruff John turning provider with a cheeky dink to Tom Bach, his shot with the aid of the crossbar beating the keeper.

Second half and Llanrug applied the pressure onto Felin, Felin's centrehalfs efficiently clearing their lines. Rhys Edwards was also called into action on several occasions to deny Llan the leveller.

Despite all the pressure it was Felin that got the third, a Rhodri Dafydd cross found his brother Carwyn Dafydd who pulled the ball down laying the ball to Daniel Hughes, Hughes turning and smashing in.

Llanrug were handed a soft free-kick which was almost converted when Euron Davies turned from manager to ball boy - the referee disagreeing that the ball had gone out for a throw in despite Davies's plea.

Felin soon got the fourth - Gruff John somehow found himself in front of an empty goal after dribbling the ball passed the keeper.

Minutes later and Rhys Eds was yet again was called into action pulling off an Islwyn Bonkesque save to deny a frustrated Llanrug.

Another home game and another win. Next week we see ourselves away to Menai Bridge tigers - it will be another big challenge for Felin but most of all an emotional day for Martin Hughes.
