The All Blacks were formed in 1981 when a group of parents thought long and hard about their travels across the city to other junior clubs and consequently formed an under 15's side to enter the Yorkshire Junior League. Although one club objected, the All Blacks quickly gathered momentum and soon had an under 13's team registered.

The following seasons saw the continued growth of the club with more age levels added and by 1983 the club had teams at 9's, 11's, 13's and 15's. As the boys grew, under 17's and 19's took to the field but lack of an Open Age team saw most players move on. Despite organised friendlies in 1986 it took two more years before this became a reality and a squad joined the Yorkshire League.

Since then, our juniors still compete in the Yorkshire Junior League but our Open Age team have moved from the Yorkshire League to the Pennine League to play a better standard of rugby in a better organised and disciplined league structure.

Crigglestone All Blacks have achieved a great deal over the years. From training with a generator and one floodlight on a school playing field to obtaining 10.5 hectares of land on our current site. We believe this to be a remarkable achievement.

The current clubhouse was created with the aid of various grants from the Foundation for Sport and Art, loans from Crigglestone Parish Council/WMDC support, Sport England and Bass Brewery plus hard earned club funds prior to lottery funds being more widely available. With the continued support from various groups like The Children's Fund, Awards for All, WMDC Community Chest, Barnsley Building Society and the Princes Trust we have managed to keep the wheels turning for the last five years.

All our juniors play in the YJARL and our open age play in the Pennine League and with a newly founded team for the 2014/15 season coached by Paul Haigh and Carl Saul, they are playing in Division 3

We have also played two seasons as South Wakefield Sharks in the Rugby League Conference (Summer).

Towards the end of each season we aim to take our teams from Under 10s upwards away on tour. Wales, Scotland and Ireland have been recent destinations and our Open Age team have been to Prague and Spain in recent years.

We actively encourage the involvement of players' parents and families and our aim is to provide a friendly, comfortable environment for everyone to train and play in and with the help of parents and volunteers we see a very bright future ahead of us.
