Don Felkin. A truly great man who just loved football and everything the game is. Being highly thought of amongst the Gwent football community, all Don wanted to do with his time was to find more people to get involved with the sport and hopefully find people just as passionate as he was for the great game. Don lived a very full life and made an impact on so many peoples lives along his way of coaching a number of generations of players.
In 2007, Don was nominated for BBC Wales Unsung Hero Award for his work in football, as he coached three generations of children football. Alongside running Cromwell Youth Football Club, Don also contributed time to Newport County and its scouting movement. A number of players that have come through the ranks at Newport County were found and coached by Don and a young age and Don continued that work into the 2000's, starting all the way back in the 1950's.
After announcing the great mans passing this past weekend, a number of friends and rivals stepped forward to pass on condolences:

"We would like to pass on respect to Don Felkin and remember all the good work he not only did for Cromwell Youth but the Newport scout movement. True legend" - via @AlbionRovers_FC (twitter).

"Rest in peace Don Felkin a legend of grass roots football for Cromwell Youth and many players throughout the years" - via @LliswerryFC (twitter).
There isn't many people across the country or world that have shown such great commitment to the grassroots level of football over such a long period of time and that is why we believe Don to be a huge legend of the game. We hope to continue the great work he started in 1957 at Cromwell Youth and continue to build winning sides all the way down from under 7's to the senior side for more years to come.
Rest in piece Don.
