Crooklands battled well in difficult conditions of a heavy pitch and strong wind against a very good Poulton side.
Nick Webster put Poulton ahead after 28 minutes following some tidy build up play.
Going in 1-0 down at half time Cassies had to be prepared for an onslaught with the wind now in the home sides favour.
Crooklands defended valiantly led by Ross Coulson with young David Graves outstanding at the back.
Cassies also broke forward with some good passing football inspired by Jasper Carey and Dave Goude who produced a well driven shot that threatened an equaliser.
It was a good all round team effort against an excellent Poulton side who enjoyed the majority of possession.
