Prior to re-joining the Lincolnshire League, Crowle’s visits to this southern corner of the county brought nothing but defeat and it was only in September last season that the Colts would get the better of the three-time Lincs League Champions. In the last game of last season Wyberton beat Crowle in the final of the Challenge Cup, since then the Colts have been undefeated and extended their run to twenty games with Wyberton’s biggest home defeat in over a decade.

Wyberton, playing at home for the first time since November, went behind to an early goal as the visitors took control. Ben Johnson rolled the ball past James Doughty from a one-on-one situation in the tenth minute before Henry Cook headed Crowle’s second from Lewis Greathead’s cross in the middle of the half. Another goal for Johnson, a tap-in ten minutes before half-time, completed the scoring before the break.

Cook added a fourth before Joe Hare was denied his fourth goal of the season when the ball appeared to clear the home goalline before being cleared. Jordan Welch, who returned from long-term injury for last week’s cup victory at home to Moulton Harrox, found the net from Hare’s cross in the seventy-fifth minute to round off Crowle’s record victory against this opposition. Man of the Match Johnson’s two goals moved him level with Liam Snow as the Colts’ top scorer this season, and he joined his strike partner in a three-way tie at the top of the Lincolnshire League scoring charts with Nettleham’s Ben Fidling whose two goals in a nine-two win at home to Louth Town Reserves enabled the Nettles to stay two points above Crowle having played one game more.
