With the first round of the Devon Colts cup completed and the second round not scheduled until next weekend, this was a chance for a friendly match with South Molton (who are not taking part in this years competition). For this match, it was also a good chance for Kev and Russ to have a look at the 17's and those who don't always get to start.
The game kicked off, or so I'm told, as I was still trying to find the pitch where they were playing. The score was 19-5 to South Molton with Jamare Townsend having scored for Cully. Then Tim Simeria drove over to score and produce the biggest grin seen in Devon for sometime. South Molton attacked again for a try but Cully held out for half-time despite the loss of Dan Stevens with a yellow card.
Half-time: South Molton Colts 19 Cully Colts 10
Cully withstood some early South Molton pressure before they were back up to full strength. Cully then worked a good move to out flank South Molton and for Kalann Nessling to score his first try in his first start for the Colts. Max Zilch added the conversion over the sticks from out on the touch line. A bit more pressure from South Molton before Ben Lines ran in his first try of the season. Max Zilch added the conversion from the opposite touch line this time to take him to top points scorer so far this season.
Final-score: South Molton Colts 19 Cully Colts 24
A good showing from the young Cully lads.
