OUR FA CUP HISTORY
The 24/25 will be the 3rd season in a row we have made it to the 1st round proper of the FA Cup.
Our best ever performance in the competition was when we defeated Exeter City back in 2008 to make it through to the 2nd round of the FA Cup. At the time, Exeter were in League 2, 4 divisions higher than The Nash at the time who were in Unibond First Division North.
OUR RECORD BREAKERS
The Nash’s record appearance holder is Dave Birch with 484 appearances.
The clubs record goal scorer is Michael Norton with 201 goals.
Our record attendance for an FA Cup game is 1731 vs. Wimbledon in 2016. Will this be broken on Sunday?
The current player manager, Craig Mahon, is the highest appearance holder in the current team with 181 appearances going into Sunday’s match.
"OUR" PLAYERS
The most notable is Jimmy (James) Spencer, who has played for both Curzon Ashton and Mansfield Town.
Spencer played 23 times for The Stags back in the 17/18 season, scoring 3 goals.
Whilst for The Nash he has made 86 appearances and scored 19 goals. He is also our current club captain.
Noah Stokes has also been registered for both sides, Noah played for The Nash in the 21/22 season.
MATCH RIVALRY
This will be the 1st time ever that Curzon Ashton have faced off against Mansfield Town. However, Mansfield Town Manager, Nigel Clough is no stranger to the Tameside area. He made his final senior playing appearance against local rivals Droylsden for Burton Albion in 2008.
TRAVELING TO THE TAMESIDE
Traveling by car will take around 2 hours and 60 (ish…) miles taking in the beautiful Peak District National Park en-route.
Public transport will take around 3 and a half hours with trains available from Alfreton or Sheffield directly to Manchester Piccadilly. From here take the “Blue Line” tram towards Ashton under Lyne, with the closest station being “Ashton West” which is around a 10 minute walk from the ground.
