Player of the Month | October

Robert Hurst31 Oct 2024 - 12:30

Whose your vote to get their hands on this months Player of the Month?

Mike Afuye
The front 3 had been settled for the first 10/11 games of the season, until Mike found his feet.
October started with a goal and assist in the Manchester Premier Cup, this led to a match winning assist against Kings Lynn in the FA Cup. He then followed this up with a great performance against Scarborough, tearing their fullbacks apart (in his first start in the league) and ended the month with a goal + assist + POTM award in the emphatic win against Chester.
Mike is a huge asset, whether starting or coming off the bench, with his direct running, power and pace inevitably leading to creating goal scoring opportunities. Its also a great celebration when he scores!
One to watch this season….

Bobby Jones
This month can be summed up with DEFENCE!
4 clean sheets over the period has led to 9 points in the league and progression through to the 1st round of the FA Cup.
Bobby continues to lead the experienced (in blue) Nash back 4 and makes a lot of his saves look comfortable, often catching and retaining the ball (a rarity in modern day goalkeeping).
His distribution and confidence on the ball also supports a number of Nash attacks (one of which started the move for a goal against Scarborough) and has already made himself a fans favourite at the club.

Devon Matthews
Finally he has his goal!
That bullet header against Chester proved the starting point of another great game for Dev where the Chester strikers didn’t get a sniff.
Matthews continues to look assured on the ball, moving out of defence and being a focal point in both boxes. He continues to develop his game with long passes out from the back to both wide players for attacks to commence and along with the rest of the team, kept 4 clean sheets this month.

Stefan Mols
Another month passes, another month of “Stefan Mols scoring the goals!”
A tap in against FC United, 2 more against Scarborough and a penalty against Chester, pretty standard for Stef. However this month has highlighted Mols work rate both on and off the ball.
Selfless running in behind, chasing lost balls and winning the ball back high up the pitch. His relationship with Jimmy Spencer has led to the two now being well watched throughout games, however its Mols clever movement and deadly finishing when the chances come that has lead to his goals this month and he continues to be spoken about with clubs away from The Nash. We kindly ask they stay away!!
