Daisy Hill's search for their first home win of 2020 continues after going down 4-1 to AFC Liverpool at New Sirs.

Although the final scoreline was probably a bit harsh on Daisy, given the run of play, they were eventually out done by some clinical finishing from the visitors, most notably from centre forward Daniel Cockerline who bagged a hat trick in a man of the match performance.

Daisy had started the game well, and Henley Mills tested AFC Liverpool goalkeeper Lee Carr with a long range effort before Tyler Rufus came close with a shot that hit the side netting.

But Cockerline opened the scoring for the Reds in the 10th minute, when a fine pass played him through on goal, and he rounded Daisy keeper Cameron Allison and rolled the ball into the net despite a desperate effort from Jacob Ridings to clear the ball off the line.

The first half was played at a brisk pace throughout, although neither side created much in the way of clear cut chances until just before the break. The closest efforts from Daisy came from Jacob Ridings who fired a first time shot over the bar, and Jamie Ramwell tested keeper Carr with a well struck shot that the keeper palmed away to safety.

But a minute before half time AFC Liverpool doubled their advantage when Rhys Hardacre added a second with a fine individual goal. Picking up the ball from a long pass down the left flank, Hardacre cut inside, jinked past two challenges and took the ball round Allison before burying it into the net.

But Daisy got a foothold back in the game five minutes into the second half when Jacob Ridings went on a storming run into the box and smashed the ball past Carr for his 16th goal of the season.

For long spells in the second half, although Daisy enjoyed plenty of possession, a dogged midfield battle developed with only a few half chances created at either end.

However, the game opened up in the last ten minutes and Daniel Cockerline made it 3-1 for AFC Liverpool when he finished smartly after the ball had been headed down into his path by Luke Stephens.

Daisy responded immediately and Jake O'Brien was unlucky when he picked up the ball in midfield and fired in a 25 yarder that beat AFC Liverpool keeper Carr but rebounded of the base of the post.

With three minutes left, Daisy had another chance when the AFC Liverpool defence failed to deal with a corner kick swung into the box, and the ball fell to Jake Foster who smashed a shot over the bar.

But as the game moved into the first minute of stoppage time, Daniel Cockerline wrapped up the points for AFC Liverpool and clinched his hat trick when he squeezed a shot through a ruck of players into the far corner of the net.
